All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle in Hertfordshire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may apply based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the chosen vehicle, is required and must have been held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address must also be presented alongside payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or at our Hertfordshire office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally due upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as required. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed to document this assessment. It is expected that the vehicle is returned in the same state as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same level of fuel as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower upon return. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or fees incurred during the rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental in Hertfordshire. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to help minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must be used as intended, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Traveling outside designated geographical boundaries without prior permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Hertfordshire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be capped at the amount you paid for your rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraudulent conduct.
